Says one agent, “Such substratification might suggest… that readers have gone insane,” but Harlequin’s Katherine Orr says that readers are looking for tight-knit communities; “There is a tremendous desire for community. Somehow in this world, where everyone is constantly communicating, people have lost real friendships.”
