Most Recommended Titles of 2020

Friday, January 1st, 2021

At this time of year, book coverage turns from the favorites of the previous year to most anticipated of the new year. The Washington Post manages to look both ways, “What to read in 2021 based on what you loved in 2020.”

We’re using this transitional weekend to test our book knowledge against the compiled list of titles from the #libfaves20 Tweetfest. With over 625 titles, it’s quite a challenge. Don’t get discouraged, though. Even GalleyChatter Robin Beerbower, one of the most widely-read people we know, was surprised to find how many were new to her, including two of the top ten titles.

Nanette Donohue Champaign (IL) Public Library put it well, “…it made me happy to see such a diverse top ten. There really is something for every reader on the short list, whether you enjoy realistic fiction or fantasy, horror or romance, it’s reflected there. Library folks really do read widely!”

It’s not about how many titles you know, but what new discoveries you make.

Looking ahead, our next Galley Chat will be held on Thursday, Jan. 7th, 4 to 5 pm ET (3:30 for virtual cocktails). Click here for the schedule of upcoming chats.
