Much-discussed for months on GalleyChat, Leave the World Behind by Rumaan Alam, (HarperCollins/Ecco, 10/6/2020) is now a National Book Awards contender. Gotta love the author’s response:
well i ended class early by saying I HAVE TO GO BECAUSE I WAS NOMINATED FOR THE NATIONAL BOOK AWARD
— Rumaan Alam (@Rumaan) October 6, 2020
Alam will talk with librarians this coming Tuesday, Oct 13th during a FB Live session with the HarperCollins Library Marketing team.
The many online author sessions for librarians are clearly influencing TBR piles, particularly Library Journal‘s Day of Dialog author panels. To watch the archived versions, register here.
Coming up, LibraryReads is sponsoring an author event that is the online equivalent of their popular BookExpo author breakfasts:
Chat ‘n Chew with ALMA & LibraryReads
The next LibraryReads deadline is Nov. 1, for books publishing in December. Please give special attention to the titles on our list of diversity titles for LibraryReads consideration. SPECIAL NOTE; sharp-eyed GalleyChatter Vicki Nesting notes that the pub date for a favorite, The Mystery of Mrs. Christie by Marie Benedict (Sourcebooks) was recently changed from January 12th to December 29th. Vicki urges people to get their votes in, calling it “A real tribute to the queen of mysteries.”
