If you’re suddenly being asked for a book called The Intention Experiment, it’s probably because the 2007 title is mentioned in The Lost Symbol. Entertainment Weekly‘s Shelf Life blog says the book is about noetic science, “a field of metaphysics that champions the power of human thought to affect the external world.”
Shelf Life says sales have shot up 77%, according to BookScan. The percentage is big, but the actual quantity (402 copies in one week) is nowhere near Lost Symbol sales. Libraries seem well-supplied with the title, with few holds on modest quantities.
The book’s publisher tells Shelf Life that she didn’t know about the mention until someone who was reading the book told her. There must have been some quick action at the publishing house; the book now sports a red sticker reading, “Featured in THE LOST SYMBOL.”
