It’s Getting Nutty Out There

According to Wired.com, people chasing clues to what’s in Dan Brown’s Lost Symbol were exposed to a “vast and secret conspiracy that’s been manipulating Google search results to push malicious software.”

On Tuesday’s Today Show, Matt Lauer gave clues to a specific location in the book:

Unfortunately, the logical online search based on the clues leads you to “a malicious website that uses pop-ups, mouse-trapping and a well-executed fake virus scan to trick you into installing a Windows executable that will screw up your computer pretty badly.”

Meanwhile, the Washington Post warns D.C. residents that they are about to be “Dan Browned”  with tourists “brandishing conspiracy theories.”

Stranger than fiction.
