Coming to TV — WITCHES and VAMPIRES
The CW network gets into the vampire franchise business this fall, with a series based on L.J. Smith’s Y.A. novels, The Vampire Diaries. Smith anticipated the current YA vampire trend by some years; the series was originally published in paperback in 1991. When the books were reissued beginning in 2007, they went on to the NYT Children’s bestseller lists for the first time.
The first two volumes are being reissued again, this time as tie-ins:

Eastwick is an ABC series based on the movie The Witches of Eastwick (which, of course, was based on the John Updike novel, but the publicity does not mention that fact). Curiously, New York magazine compares it to Sex and the City, rather than either the book or the movie.
No tie-in is planned.
