Kids on SPEAK
A great response to adults who find certain YA books unnecessarily “grim” comes in the form of a poem that Laurie Halse Anderson created from the letters and emails kids sent her in reaction to her book Speak.
This video is part of Penguin’s “YA Central,” which also includes features on John Green and Lauren Myracle.
Anderson will speak at the Margaret A. Edwards Luncheon at ALA on Saturday. She is also one of the AASL Presidents Program speakers, along with Jacqueline Woodson and Alan Lawrence Sitomer (Saturday, 10:30 to noon, McCormick Place West, W-184).
She will be signing in the Penguin Young Readers booth (#2120) on Saturday from 2:30 to 3:30.
