‘Chéri,’ The Movie

CBS Sunday Morning took a look at the movies of summer this week, many of them based on books (unfortunately, that segment is not available online). Two bits of good news; Nora Ephron’s Julie & Julia has strong buzz in Hollywood and Colette’s Chéri is coming to the screen in what looks like a delicious adaptation.

For some reason, the producers have announced a limited release even though it has several big names attached — Michelle Pfeiffer and Kathy Bates star and Stephen Frears (The Queen, Dangerous Liaisons, which also starred Pfeiffer) directs.

Below is the trailer for immediate gratification, but you really need to view the larger, clearer version (link here).

No movie tie-in version has surfaced yet.

It looks like just the kind of delightful confection you’d want from a film of that book.

ISBN 0374532222 looks to be the movie tie-in version, from Farrar Straus.
