‘Lovely Bones’ First Look

Director Peter Jackson, who is currently wrapping up production of the movie of Alice Sebold’s The Lovely Bones in New Zealand, is interviewed in the current issue of USA Today. He admits the film was one of his most difficult to date, with the scenes of the afterlife causing particular trouble (it was rumored that was the cause of the film being delayed from its original March ’09 release date).

The movie stars Saoirse Ronan as Susie Salmon, the 14 year old who is raped and murdered by a neighbor. Mark Wahlberg and Rachel Weisz play her parents, Stanley Tucci is the murderer and Susan Sarandon plays Susie’s grandmother (!). It’s scheduled to appear in theaters on Dec. 11.
