Nancy Pearl recommends a book we’ve been tracking, Abraham Verghese’s Cutting for Stone, on her PBS show this week (listen above, 4.30 minutes into the show). She says it’s “A BIG book, in terms of plot and subplots, number of characters,” and compares it to The Kite Runner, calling it “absolutely readable.”
Several large libraries are showing 5 to 1 hold ratios.
