New York Times Bestsellers, 7/13

There’s no surprises on the New York Times fiction bestseller list this week; all of the titles that debuted on USA Today‘s list on Thursday, now appear on the Times as well.

There are a few interesting debuts in nonfiction, however:

#10 Billionaires Vinegar

Word of mouth seems to be building on this one, which came out in mid-May. It’s been on the Extended Nonfiction list for 6 weeks and now makes a big jump from #33 to #10. It’s been reviewed in USA Today, The Washington Post, and Business Week. Some libraries show heavy holds.

#14 Rome 1960

This is one of the few books that appeared on several of the Summer Book Previews (on five of eleven lists). It also debuts this week on the Washington Post bestseller list at #10.

In addition to appearing on the bestseller list, it is reviewed in the same issue of the NYT Book Review, less than enthusiastically (“A gold medalist of a writer…has put together a silver medal of a study of a bronze medal of a topic”). It’s been reviewed more positively in the Wall Street Journal and the Christian Science Monitor.

Libraries own it, with comfortable holds to copy ratios.
