GO: A Kidd's Guide
to Graphic Design

Sure, it’s a graphic design
primer written for kids
, but as I
looked at the pages, I recognized
that the concepts behind it were
quite sophisticated.

So… I sent an e-mail the head of
graphic design at the oldest art
college in the country, suggesting
Chip give an address in the main
auditorium.

Came the answer… “yes,
yes, YES!“

This is all stuff that we teach in
our foundation year!”

Seventeen-year-old Sahar has been in love with her best
friend, Nasrin, since they were six. They’ve shared
stolen kisses and romantic promises, but...

Iran is a dangerous place for two girls in love.

Eight copies of the finished book are sitting on my
desk, as I type. First come, first served!

Not to be too coy about It, yes Mara is my daughter (for those
of you I haven’t buttonholed, yet),
she of the Golden Kite Award, Charlotte Zolotow Honor
& Ezra Jack Keats Honor.

At ALA Annual, the Publisher at Peachtree Press was kind
enough to leave F&Gs of Mara’s forthcoming title with them,
in my booth. THE GRUDGE KEEPER, illustrated by Eliza
Wheeler.

Needless to say, I loved the writing (You expected any less?).
The very pleasant surprise was the quality of the illustrations.

Keep an eye out for this illustrator. I think she has a very big
career coming!

And to close…
