Librarians Pick #libfaves19

Thanks to all the library workers who joined this year’s RA extravaganza by voting for their top ten favorite titles of 2019, using the hashtag #libfaves19. We now have the full list of 775 titles, thanks to coordinator Andrienne Cruz, Azusa City Library (CA), and those who compiled each day’s votes:

#libfaves19 titles

While it’s interesting to see which titles got the most votes, our favorite approach to the list is to read the individual tweets by searching Twitter using the hashtag. Many are models of selling a book in just a few words. Reading just a few will increase your own RA skills and will also expand your reading. As Gregg Winsor, Johnson County Library (KS),  tweeted, “It’s also useful to see what genres AREN’T making your own #libfaves19 lists, and resolve to read those genres in 2020.”

Reading the tweets, you’ll also be struck by how much fun everyone seemed to be having. Corodinator Andrienne Cruz notes you can experience this year around by nominating titles for LibraryReads: https://libraryreads.org/for-library-staff/
and also by joining EarlyWord’s monthly GalleyChats.
