A Non-Hallmark Mother’s Day
The New Yorker “celebrates” the upcoming Mother’s Day in their own idiosyncratic way, with a cover story from Roz Chast’s new graphic memoir, Can’t We Talk About Something More Pleasant? (Macmillan/Bloomsbury, May 6) in which she chronicles of the decline of her aging parents. Chast’s book is also reviewed in today’s NYT by Michiko Kakutanti, who says it is “by turns grim and absurd, deeply poignant and laugh-out-loud funny. ”
