Michael Lewis’s just-published Home Game: An Accidental Guide to Fatherhood rises to #15 on Amazon, following his appearance today on NPR’s Morning Edition and a New York magazine profile of his endeavor to make a winning baseball player out of the eldest of his two daughters. It will be interesting to see if his Wednesday, June 3 appearance on the Daily Show takes this collection of essays he first wrote for Slate any higher on Amazon’s list. Libraries we checked had only a few copies and in one case as many as 35 holds.

Lewis has another book coming in November, The Big Short: Inside the Doomsday Machine, about how the U.S. economy “went over the cliff,” which was prominently positioned in the Norton booth at Book Expo last weekend, and is mentioned in our BEA Nonfiction roundup (see previous post). That subject sounds perfect for the author of the Liar’s Poker, the still-popular book Lewis wrote nearly 20 years ago about the 1987 Wall Street crash, which is currently at #1133 on Amazon. Most libraries we checked had the older book in modest numbers, with modest holds.
