New to the extended list:
#19 THE TOURIST, by Olen Steinhauer (St. Martin’s Minotaur)
The last in a five-book series (correction: Thanks to an alert EarlyWord reader — this is not the last book in Steinhauer’s series set somewhere in the Soviet Union. That series actually finished with Victory Square in 2007. The Tourist, a contemporary international thriller, is separate from that series). Variety reports that George Clooney has acquired the rights to this new title. Reserves are heavy.
Stellar reviews:
- LA Times, “A new thriller from a writer whose stories are as rich as any by Greene, Deighton or Le Carre.”
- Washington Post, “first-rate popular fiction”
