New to NYT Bestsellers, 12/21

The biggest release of the week doesn’t show up on the NYT bestseller list because The Tales of Beedle the Bard is incorporated into Harry Potter in the children’s series list. For a better sense of how well the book did during its first days on sale, check the Wall Street Journal’s Fiction list, which shows it selling at a rate four times greater than the #2 title, Eclipse.

On the NYT Trade Paperback list, two books that are the basis for movies receiving heavy press coverage hit the list; The Reader and Revolutionary Road. Neither have been seen by many viewers yet; The Reader is in a limited number of theaters and Revolutionary Road won’t be in theaters until 12/26.

Library reserves are heavier for Revolutionary Road than The Reader.

#19 THE READER, by Bernhard Schlink. (Vintage, $13.95.)

20 REVOLUTIONARY ROAD, by Richard Yates. (Vintage, $14.95.)
