“Lush Life” in People

The current critical and popular favorite, Richard Price’s Lush Life gets four out of a possible four stars in People this week. While you can see a “world exclusive” photo of J Lo and the twins on People‘s Web site, unfortunately you can’t read the Price review there. For some reason, People doesn’t post their reviews.

The lead title (also with four stars) is Pretty is What Changes by Jessica Queller. Through genetic testing, Queller learned she was at high risk for breast cancer and opted for a preventive double mastectomy. As the review points out, with this type of testing becoming more prevalent, a growing number of women will be facing this decision. The author is now a writer for the Gossip Girl TV series. LJ‘s starred review (2/1) called it a “a vivid, powerful, informative account.” The book is on order in all libraries I checked, in modest quantities, with few holds so far.
